For this episode, I wanted to talk to a veteran position player and have him detail his off-season along with a discussion of minor league spring training. We hear so much of the Major League side, I wanted to get a sense of what minor leaguers go through in preparation for the season.
Dan Gamache grew up in Rhode Island and was a three time All-State selection at Bishop Hendricken while carrying them to a 2008 state championship where he was named the MVP.
He attended Auburn University where he played under former Major League pitcher John Pawlowski for three seasons before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the first pick in the 6th round of the 2011 draft.
Gamache played for the Pirates organization for six seasons reaching Triple-A Indianapolis before hooking on with the Twins and Nationals the last two years.
I had the opportunity to catch up with Dan during the Harrisburg Senators’ Media Day last week where we talked about his off-season workout plan, his one-month stint driving for Uber, and his daily routine during spring training.
So sit back and enjoy episode three of the Minor Conversations Podcast with my guest Harrisburg Senator infielder Dan Gamache.
